You’re Invited to Sun Day!

The clean energy revolution is here. Solar, wind, and batteries are now the cheapest form of power on the planet –­­ cutting costs, creating jobs, and strengthening our communities.  Sun Day is a day of action to celebrate the power of clean energy. On September 21st, people everywhere will be showcasing solar installations, electric homes and vehicles running on clean power, on Long Island, the event will be in Deer Park.

What:  A Day of Action for Clean Energy, taking place on Sunday, September 21st, from 10 AM to 2 PM at the United Way of Long Island headquarters in Deer Park.

The day will feature:

  • Exhibitor booths

  • Potential Workshops: on Energy Literacy, Offshore Wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Climate Change Solutions for Long Island.

  • Rooftop solar array tours: featuring 577 PV modules (400 watts each), generating 230 kilowatts of clean electricity.

  • A clean energy job fair (featuring our Power Up BSP/BPI alumnae): Introducing opportunities to former Power Up students, Students for Climate Action (S4CA), youth, and the public.

  • Electric vehicle showcase and incentives

  • Energy audit signups

  • Kids’ activities, live music & entertainment

  • Special guests

  • Free refreshments, raffle giveaways & community rally

Who: This collaborative event, hosted by Renewable Energy Long Island, United Way of Long Island, Sierra Club, Long Island Clean Energy Hub,  New York League of Conservation Voters, the Town of Babylon, Drive Electric Long Island and others. This event will kick off Climate Week .  The Long Island Clean Energy Hub will also be actively promoting NYSERDA / PSEG cost saving programs throughout the event.


When:  Sunday, September 21st- 10am - 2pm


Where:  United Way Headquarters, 819 Grand Boulevard, Deer Park (by Tanger Outlets)


Free shuttle from Deer Park LIRR to Tanger Outlets (just a short walk from the event). Pick up locations are by Entrance 3 (next to security) and Entrance 6 (next to Regal Cinemas).


Why: By organizing thousands of events on the fall Equinox, Sun Day will help accelerate the ongoing clean energy revolution: we have the technology and the solutions, all we need is to build the will to scale-up and accelerate clean energy and make it accessible to all.

This event is open to the public – including students, families, community members, industry experts, and clean energy leaders.
